Image Gallery : The Initial build starts

In 1992 we bought a field with woodland which was next to our then home, the site had planning consent for the construction of a single dwelling of about 5,000 sqft but it was not the kind of building we wanted so we asked local architects Klaentschi & Klaentschi to design a home for us which would fit into the huge site. The brief was to create a home in 2 halves, a normal sized (2,000 sq. ft.) family home with 4 bedrooms, kitchen, dining & sitting area, and another separate annex building (2,000 sq. ft.) which could be used as another home, possibly for an older generation, eg a "granny flat", or possibly as self catering accommodation for a younger generation, this too was to have a bedroom, bathroom kitchen, and dining & sitting area. In addition this annex was to have a large area of un-dedicated space which could be used for whatever purpose, work, play, family.

The designs were done and eventually in 1999 the build was started.

The build was started in Autumn of 1999 and continued through 2000 and finished in spring of 2001. The Architects were Klaentschi & Klaentschi and the builders were Donovan Construction.
