We employed a local firm of builders to build the design for us and retained the architect to monitor the build process. The design was for a timber frame house which would be in keeping with the site and as the site was a landfill site which had been grassed over, it was desirable to have a building which trod lightly on the ground even though the foundations would be piled to bedrock.

It was easy to observe the build process as we only lived next door.
